Motorcyclist Killed in Phoenix Collision

A 54-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision on Thursday.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on February 12, 2026, around 10:20 p.m., officers responded to the area 15th Avenue and Bethany Home Road regarding a collision involving a motorcycle. When officers arrived, they located the motorcycle rider, identified as Jason Sutterfield, with serious injuries.

Sutterfield did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. The other vehicle involved in the collision remained at the location.

Detectives believe that the motorcycle driven by Sutterfield was westbound on Bethany Home Road when it collided with the other vehicle involved at the intersection of 15th Avenue and Bethany Home Road. The other vehicle was making a northbound turn onto 15th Avenue from eastbound on Bethany Home Road.

Speed is believed to be a factor in this collision.

    Slow down my little squidlettes. We have thousands of miles of wide-open highways in the middle of nowhere to crack that throttle, don’t do it in town.

    I’ve lost too many loved ones to speed and inattention to stay myself from one final admonition: it’s hard to enjoy motorcycling without all your limbs or faculties, or from inside a mortician’s enclosure; ride with the utmost clarity, care, vigilance, and distrust of vehicles and road conditions.
