This week, the Republican National Committee (RNC) filed a cert petition urging the Supreme Court of the United States to uphold and enforce Arizona’s commonsense documentary proof-of-citizenship requirement for voter registration.
“Over two decades ago, Arizona voters overwhelmingly approved a commonsense law requiring documentary proof of citizenship to vote,” said RNC Chairman Joe Gruters. “It is unacceptable that, more than 20 years later, the RNC must still step in to defend the clear will of Arizonans against the Democratic Party and leftist advocacy groups. Federal law is clear: only U.S. citizens have the right to vote in American elections. The RNC will never stop fighting to protect our democracy and the integrity of every Arizona voter’s ballot.”
In 2004, Arizona voters passed Proposition 200, which mandates that residents provide satisfactory evidence of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote for the first time.
The current case stems from Arizona’s 2022 election integrity law, House Bill 2492, which safeguards the state’s voter registration process by ensuring only eligible U.S. citizens can register to vote.
This law empowers state officials to verify citizenship, allows them to remove non-citizens from its rolls, and restores trust in Arizona election processes.
In August 2024, the Supreme Court of the United States correctly allowed Arizona to continue enforcing this law.
In October 2024, the Supreme Court permitted the Commonwealth of Virginia to remove non-citizens from its rolls leading up to the 2024 election.
In February 2025, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ignored the Supreme Court’s direction in both the Arizona and Virginia cases and sided with the Democratic National Committee and advocacy groups like Mi Familia Vota by upholding a block on key provisions of Arizona’s 2022 election integrity laws.
Republicans say this panel decision “undermines Arizona’s constitutional authority to secure its own elections.”

Since when can a circuit court override SCOTUS?
Why do we have to ask, the country was being invaded by multiple millions of illegals for four years? Trump was elected to kick them out, he won on that popular mandate. It looks like the GOP and democrats agree to fight him on this. Everyone should take note.
The 9th U. S. Circuit Court ignored the U. S. Supreme Court’s direction. I’m betting the U. S. Supreme Court, with the concurrence of some of its more liberal members, will stop this nonsense.
However it just goes to show that the politicians really dont care it seems. A law 20 years ago andjust now trying to do something. Then 5 years ago when the 9th circus quashed the law they apparently did NOTHING about it. Seems that the democraps rely on the worthlessness of the Az gop and continue to march on their merry way. Thats the problem with the R in this state, still think that the worthless mclame bunch has sway and have done nothing to counter the left on anything. Then they wonder why nothing goes their way. Even up in east LA the left dominates although the right claims the area? Wonder how. Only time folks hear there is a r party is when there is a want for $$, almost as bad as the national party with their mailings for ‘opinions’ which are nothing more than tries for $$. Its so bad I even got a mailer from te democraps looking for $$ for the idiot mr gippords, you know the ccp guy who has scammed the citizens for a ballon ride that neer really did, and the seditious guy acting that he cares for all when its only about him!
anyone who votes against voter ID needs to have their ID stripped of them
then let them try to LIVE
Never underestimate the interest and power of the lefty Deep State. They are everywhere in federal, state, local governments and courts. They will raise obsticles or go against every correct effort.
It will be interesting. If the SAVE. Act gets signed into law before the court hears it, it will make this a moot point. All states will be required to have its residents to show proof of citizenship.
Think it through, the SAVE Act will be challenged in court and not effective for the next election, maybe in 2028. Of course the scumbag Senate still needs to pass it
