BUCKEYE – A man is in custody after an overnight double-shooting that left a father, identified as 36-year-old David Washington, dead in Sienna Hills.
According to the Buckeye Police Department, just before 1:00 a.m. on Thursday, Buckeye police received reports of shots fired at a home near Sienna Hills Pkwy and McDowell Rd. A Buckeye Police Sergeant who just went off duty and was in uniform driving a marked patrol car, was down the street when the call came out. She arrived on scene and had a suspect, 22-year-old Jesus Lastra Perez, detained within minutes.
Additional arriving officers located a 17-year-old girl with gunshot injuries. They treated the girl’s wounds until medics arrived to take over. The teen is currently hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers then located Washington inside the home with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased on scene.
Investigators learned all parties involved live at the home. An argument occurred and that’s when Lastra Perez reportedly opened fire.
The investigation is ongoing.
