Willcox, AZ – A fire has damaged the Cochise County Solid Waste Transfer Station in Willcox, which could result in service delays at the station for the next two weeks. The Station will keep normal business hours.
The fire originated from smoldering ashes mixed in with other trash. According to Cochise County Public Works Director, Marty Haverty, the damage to the facility is extensive and will take several weeks to repair.
“We have equipment and electrical damage that impacted the operation. The Willcox Transfer Station is a vital part of our solid waste system. We will get it up and running as soon as possible for the public. We appreciate the quick response efforts of the Willcox fire and police departments during the emergency,” said Haverty in a press release.
