The body of a social media influencer, Hannah Moody, has been found near a trailhead in Arizona after she was reported missing.

The 31-year-old Moody, known for sharing her hiking adventures, was first reported missing at around 7:50 p.m. on Wednesday by concerned friends who said they had not heard from her.

According to the Scottsdale Police Department, officers responded to the trailhead where Hannah was last seen and located her vehicle still in the parking lot. Efforts to reach her by phone or ping her cell phone were unsuccessful.

Officers began search efforts on foot with drones and assistance from a Phoenix Police Department helicopter. Search efforts continued for Hannah for approximately 4 1/2 hours until around 11:30 p.m. when the search was called off for the evening.

Search efforts picked back up in the morning of May 22, with over 20 officers on bicycles, on foot, with drones, and with the assistance of the Maricopa County sheriffs search and rescue team and air unit.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s air unit located Hannah’s body at around 12:05 p.m. about 600 yards off trail.

Scottsdale Police Department detectives are conducting a thorough investigation to piece together what happened to Hannah and how she died. The investigation is in the early stages, but there are no obvious signs of trauma.

  1. Super sad. She did die doing what she loved, which may one day be the sliver of joy found in this tragedy.
God bless the family. And may they know he is rejoicing with her now.

  2. Like my comment in another recent article. Nice try, condolences, and it shouldn’t happen to a 31-year old but the caption in the picture says it all; summer is already here silly! I hope her influencing had more common sense than this!

    • There’s no indication yet it was heat related and even so, it’s still perfectly reasonable to be outside hiking in the cool of our mornings at this point. It’s been the 60s overnight still. Well within tolerance range for experienced hikers.
Ultimately, if it was heat related, she screwed up. We live in a hot place, we still work, play, garden, run errands etc outside. Lots of people do this without A/C and without dying every yr. People who fall to heat exposure, screw up. Plain and simple. It doesn’t have to turn into a nanny state directive for everyone else who ventures outside. It is a good reminder though, be smart and take the temps seriously!
