Six Aztecs Score in Double Figures to Close Out Winter Classic

The Pima Community College men’s basketball team (14-0) closed out game play in 2025 on Wednesday in the final day of the Aztec Winter Classic.

The No. 8 ranked Aztecs took control in the first half to beat Arizona Sol 133-53 solidifying their 14th straight win.

The Aztecs went on a 22-5 run in almost seven minutes to take a 29-9 lead with 10:54 left in the half. Up 55-18, they closed out the first half on a 21-2 run in the final 4:16 to go up 76-20 at the break.

Pima put together another double digit run in the second half as they outscored Arizona Sol 16-1 in a little over four minutes to make it 114-43.

The Aztecs had six players score in double figures. Sophomore Brock Mendoza had his third straight double-double and eighth of the season as he finished with a game-high 28 points and 19 rebounds. He went 12 for 15 from the field.

Sophomore Ky Green produced a double-double of his own off the bench as he scored 25 points on 11 for 14 shooting with 10 rebounds.

Sophomore Isaac Johnson closed out the game with 26 points after he shot 9 for 11 from the field. He also grabbed eight boards.

Freshman Rowan McKenzie (Boulder Creek HS) posted 19 points as he finished 5 for 11 from beyond the arc.

Sophomore Taevean Famutimi-Brown and Gerron Graham (Premier Prep Academy) each posted 15 points. Famutimi-Brown had 11 assists and seven rebounds while Graham had nine assists and six rebounds.

The Aztecs shot 66.2 percent from the field (51-77) and had 70 points in the paint. They were 38.5 percent from downtown (10-26) and 60 percent at the free-throw line (21-35).
