Early Morning Crash into Bus Leaves One Man Dead in Phoenix

Phoenix Police Department detectives are investigating a crash with a city bus that left one man, identified as 48-year-old Delfino Mota Jr., dead.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, around 3:57 a.m., officers responded to the area of 4800 West Lower Buckeye Road regarding a crash with a pickup truck and a city bus. When officers arrived, they located Delfino suffering with serious injuries. Phoenix Fire Department personnel arrived on the scene and transported the man to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Detectives believe Delfino tried to pass traffic using the two-way left turn lane, swerved to avoid another vehicle, entered oncoming traffic, and collided head-on with the bus. The bus driver was not hurt and there were no passengers on board.
