74-Year-Old Jaywalker Killed in Phoenix

A 74-year-old jaywalker was killed on Valentine’s day in Phoenix.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on February 14, 2026, around 11:10 p.m., officers responded to the area 16th Street and Pinchot Avenue regarding a collision involving a pedestrian. When officers arrived, they located the adult male pedestrian, identified as Manual Madril, with serious injuries.

Mr. Madril was transported to a nearby hospital where he did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The vehicle involved in the collision remained on scene.

Detectives believe that Mr. Madril was crossing 16th Street, mid-block, when he was struck by the vehicle involved, which was traveling northbound.

Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the collision
