A Glendale man, Rueben Rocha, has been sentenced to natural life in prison for the murder of his ex-girlfriend Jordin Castillo.
According to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, on June 4, 2023, Rocha broke into the victim’s third-floor apartment in Glendale through the balcony’s glass door. Six people were inside, including the 2-year-old child the victim shared with Rocha. Two of the adults took the little girl and hid.

Jordin was killed, and two of her friends were seriously injured. In total, Rocha fired 19 times and continued shooting even as the victims lay helpless on the floor.
A jury convicted Rocha of all charges:

- two counts of Aggravated Assault, a Class Three Dangerous Felony
- four counts of Disorderly Conduct, a Class Six Dangerous Felony
- one count of Interfering with Judicial Proceedings, a Class One Domestic Violence Misdemeanor
