Another jaywalker is dead in Phoenix.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on Monday, June 1, 2026, at around 4:52 a.m., Phoenix Police officers responded to the area of 55th Avenue and Encanto Boulevard regarding a car/pedestrian collision. Officers arrived and located 42-year-old Cory Moore in critical condition. The Phoenix Fire Department responded and transported the man to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Detectives from the Vehicular Crimes Unit responded to assume the investigation and process the scene. It was determined that Cory was crossing 55th Avenue from east to west, not in a crosswalk, and was fatally struck by a black Chevy Silverado traveling southbound.

The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment. Neither speed nor impairment appears to be a factor in this collision, and no charges are being recommended.
