Arizona Reports Zero COVID-19 Deaths, Spread Continues To Slow

On Monday, the Arizona Department of Health Services reported zero deaths. The percent of patients testing positive has declined from a peak of 23% the week ending July 25th to 9% the week ending August 9th, according to researchers at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health.

The governor’s office also announced Arizona R-naught number (R0) has dropped to .79. The R-naught number is a measure of how fast a virus is spreading. The R-naught number represents the average number of people who become infected by an infectious person, according to the National Institute of Health.
