TUCSON – A previously deported convicted sex offender, Romeo Hernandez-Sanchez, was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents in southern Arizona over the weekend.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Tucson Sector agents arrested the 30-year-old Hernandez-Sanchez after he illegally entered the United States through the desert near Douglas.
Agents discovered through a records check that the Mexican national was convicted of sexual offenses against a child in Monmouth County, New Jersey, in 2018. Hernandez-Sanchez was removed from the United States later that year after he completed his prison sentence.
As a previously removed aggravated felon, Hernandez-Sanchez now faces immigration prosecution.
