WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Wednesday, Governor Doug Ducey met with President Trump, and Dr. Deborah Birx to discuss Arizona’s response to COVID-19 pandemic. Trump praised Ducey for the “fantastic job” he has done managing the health crisis.
Birx said Ducey was “the first example of how to move forward together.” Ducey, one of the least popular governors in the country, appeared to lap up the rare praise.

Earlier this week, a Maricopa County Superior Court judge found that Ducey had ignored the due process rights of gym owners. The judge gave Ducey a week to develop a process for Arizona fitness centers to apply for reopening.
The fitness centers had sued the governor who had ordered the centers to close, while supermarkets, restaurants, and other businesses could remain open.
Looking forward to meeting with @POTUS at the White House later. From PPE to ventilators, testing supplies, hospital staff and more, whatever Arizona has requested, this administration has delivered. We are grateful for the continued partnership. @WhiteHouse
