An Eloy man, Sean Cook, was arrested this week for attempting to lure a teenager for sex.

According to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, the teen and her family reached out to authorities after Cook began messaging the 15-year-old on social media, often commenting on her appearance and soliciting her to meet in person.

With permission from the teen and her family, an Internet Crimes detective assumed her identity on her social media account and continued to chat with Cook.

Cook arranged to meet the detective posing as the teen for sex.

The 34-year-old Cook was booked into the Pinal County Jail for Luring of a Minor for sexual exploitation.

“I commend this teen and her family for staying vigilant online,” said Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb. “And let this be a warning to others who wish to lure minors online. Our detectives are watching, and you will be caught.”
