Former Arizona Republic “Top Entrepreneur” Arrested For Fatal Tucson Hit And Run

A Tucson man, Ernesto Carrizoza, has been arrested in connection with a hit and run that took the life of 9-year-old Edouard Lautaire, and sent his 10-year-old brother, Maximilien, to the hospital with serious injuries.

Carrizoza, who was named one of the state’s top 35 entrepreneurs aged under 35 in 2014 by the Arizona Republic, fled the scene of the accident.

According to the Tucson Police Department, on September 30, 2020 just before 5:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to 8111 East Broadway Boulevard for a report of a serious injury hit and run collision. Officers found the two young boys in the roadway. Edouard was pronounced deceased on scene.

Tucson Police detectives were able to determine that the boys and their mother were crossing Broadway Boulevard from north to south while utilizing a marked crosswalk. Carrizoza, driving a BMW westbound in the center lane did not stop for the family and collided with the two children.

Carrizoza slowed down momentarily and then continued westbound from the scene leaving the children in the roadway. A front seat passenger was also seen in the vehicle. The mother of the two boys was not injured.
