Rep. Debbie Lesko joined her fellow Arizona Representatives, Raul Grijalva, Ruben Gallego, and Greg Stanton on Tuesday in support of a defense bill, HR6395, described by opponents as “swampy.” President Donald Trump had threated to veto the bill, however the bill appears to have passed with a veto-proof bipartisan majority.
President Trump had called for “the very weak National Defense Authorization Act” (NDAA) to be rejected unless it repealed Section 230, a part of the communications code that protects Twitter, Facebook from content liability.
.@realDonaldTrump I fully support you on this. Please don’t back down. The freedom and future of our country is at stake. https://t.co/A5EPgvAuqX

President Trump also wanted a provision of the bill removed that allows renaming of military bases that now honor Confederate leaders.
President Trump’s demands were ignored and the bill now goes to the Senate.
Tonight, I voted NO on the Conference Report to Accompany H.R. 6395 – the National Defense Authorization Act.
I support the military as does President @realDonaldTrump.
But I do not support this legislation that serves special interests more than American interests. pic.twitter.com/YAe9hsk13x

.@RepMattGaetz on NDAA: “America’s fighting men & women are so precious that they should not have to die in some failed state… so that defense contractors can extend our involvement in these wars, so that lobbyists can get rich, & so that members of Congress can get reelected.” pic.twitter.com/wmzr8fVXdZ
