Phoenix Man Arrested After Shooting Man He Falsely Claimed Broke Into His Home

Phoenix Police are investigating a homicide that has left 41-year-old Jon Scarano dead.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on February 13th, around 8:30 p.m., officers were called to the area of 6200 South 11th Avenue about shots being fired. When they got there, they found Scarano, inside of a home suffering from gunshot wounds.

While investigating the incident, they found a second man, identified as Richard Williams, who told police that he had called 911. Mr. Williams said he had shot Mr. Scarano because he had broken into his home.

Investigators found that his statements were inconsistent with evidence on scene. As a result, Mr. Williams was subsequently booked into the Maricopa County Jail.

Mr. Scarano died from his injuries on scene.

At this time, the investigation remains active and ongoing.
