Assault At Tombstone Home Leads To Felony Indictments

Two people remain in the Cochise County jail in lieu of $150,000 bail stemming from their alleged involvement in an assault earlier this month at a Tombstone residence which left an Arkansas man injured.

Whitney Ella Rose, 32, and Andrew Scott Armentrout, 37, were taken into custody March 14 on suspicion of Kidnapping, Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Dangerous Drug. They were recently indicted by a grand jury and are awaiting formal arraignment next month.

According to Tombstone Marshal Jim Adams, the assault came to light around 2:30 a.m. March 14 when the 35-year-old victim was observed with obvious injuries at the local Circle K. It was later determined the man had driven to Tombstone from Arkansas to pick up his girlfriend at a local residence.

Once the man arrived, he was assaulted and robbed before somehow ending up at the Circle K several blocks away, Adams said.

Although Rose provided jailers with a home address in Tombstone, a social media account in her name shows she moved to Arkansas last year.

The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Tombstone Marshal’s Office with the investigation, which included execution of a search warrant at a residence on 12th Street. The search led to the seizure of “various evidence” related to the assault as well as a large quantity of methamphetamine, Adams said.

Interviews conducted as part of the investigation led to the arrest of Rose and Armentrout several hours later.
