Hard Drugs Seized by Port of San Luis CBP Officers

TUCSON, Ariz. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Arizona’s Port of San Luis arrested a Mexican man Wednesday afternoon when they found nearly $105,000 worth of drugs in his Buick sedan.

Officers referred the 29-year-old Mexican national for a secondary search of his vehicle when he attempted to cross into the United States. During the search, a CBP narcotics-detection canine alerted to the vehicle’s front firewall between the engine and passenger compartments. Inside, officers found nearly 25 pounds of meth, worth close to $74,000, and almost 3 pounds of cocaine valued in excess of $31,000.

Officers seized the drugs and vehicle. The driver was arrested for narcotics smuggling and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
