Tucson construction students to compete in SkillsUSA

Construction students, from nine local high schools will compete in the Region 6 SkillsUSA competition, on Februry 3 and 4, at Catalina High School. More than 100 Pima County JTED students will participate, making it the largest student construction event in Arizona, according to organizers.

JTED construction teachers have teamed up with 14 construction-related businesses in Southern Arizona to gauge the students’ skills in masonry, plumbing, electrical wiring and three levels of carpentry. The contest will begin at 8 a.m. both days, ending at 4 p.m. on Friday, and at noon on Saturday.

SkillsUSA is a career and technical student organization, which brings students, teachers and industry experts together to ensure that our nation has a skilled workforce.
