Tucson man charged with possessing child pornography

Rafael Paz, 38, of Tucson was charged today with 15 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, a Class 2 Felony.

Detectives with the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit routinely conduct online investigations in an effort to locate those in the Tucson area sharing and distributing child pornography. Recently, detectives with this investigative unit discovered that illicit files were being shared to and from a computer in the Tucson area.

The investigators obtained a warrant for the location, an apartment in the complex located at 5515 South Forgeus, where the computer was kept. The search warrant was served on March 28, 2012. Several items of evidence, including the computer that had been used to share the files, were seized.

Paz, the resident of the apartment was located at his work place and detained before being transported to the Main Police Station for an interview. Mr. Paz was transported and booked into the Pima County Jail.
