Finger-Pointing Begins As Turning Point Action and Freedom Caucus Deflect Blame For Election Losses

It is national “Cover Your Ass” week for whoever lost the last round of elections and in Arizona, which means Republicans, especially those closely aligned with Turning Point Action and the Freedom Caucus.

Traditionally, this is the week when the experts who told you who to vote for, and who insisted their candidates were the best and were totally going to win, now work hard to convince you that they were in no way responsible for the losses that occurred, and that it was definitely someone else’s fault.

Many of these consultant types will trash “the consultant class” of which they are not only a part, but among the most ambitious members of.

Arizona Republicans may not be falling for it this time. A loss this large can’t be blamed on cheating or fraud, like Mark Finchem would still suggest as he chases clicks.

The national environment was largely the result of voter dissatisfaction with Trump policies and their effect on the national economy, but none of the rats trying to escape the sinking ship can lay the blame at his feet because they remain his biggest cheerleaders and their ongoing grift only works so long as they remain on his good side. They can’t survive outside of MAGA, so they can’t blame Trump or Trump policies.

So, the TP Action and Freedom Caucus crowd is trying to shift the blame to anyone else, including their own candidates.

Blame the national parties for not spending more backing bad candidates.

Blame Republicans who keep not voting for their hand-picked candidates.

Blame the AZ Republican Party that organized and worked well, in spite of having to set up an entirely new operation in less than a year.

Local TP and FC cheerleader Merissa Caldwell has an even more unusual take, blaming Andy Biggs and Jews.

What makes it remarkable is Caldwell spent the entire election cycle championing Andy Biggs, but with his political career officially over and hers in jeopardy, she is throwing him under the bus, blaming not only Andy Biggs’ own defeat on his Epstein vote and Jewish funding, but blaming his daughter’s defeat on his Epstein vote and Jewish funding.

An honest appraisal would suggest that Mylie Biggs took her race completely for granted, raised less than $13,000, and spent most of it with Caldwell’s BFF Jake Hoffman, who has been remarkably silent on social media since the election drubbing. Losing a race you didn’t even try to win shouldn’t come as a surprise, especially for a candidate who said women shouldn’t run for office, just before running for office.

There will be an endless amount of post-election analysis, and most will be losers trying to make excuses for their losses. Republicans who want to find their way back to the majority need to find those few who are being honest about the challenges ahead and ignore the shameless hucksters who think you’re stupid enough to fall for their lies again.
