PHOENIX – Former Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb will succeed Republican Rep. Andy Biggs in Congress, while Republican Rep. Abe Hamadeh will return for a second term, following Associated Press calls Friday in two Arizona congressional contests.

Lamb defeated Democratic nominee Elizabeth Lee in the 5th Congressional District, KJZZ reported. Hamadeh defeated Democrat Bernadette Greene-Placentia in the 8th District, according to FOX 10’s report on the AP projection.

Biggs left the East Valley congressional contest open when he ran for governor. Lamb, who previously sought the Republican U.S. Senate nomination in 2024, entered the general election against Lee, a nurse specializing in reproductive health care.

During the campaign, Lamb and Hamadeh received endorsements from NFIB FedPAC, the federal political action committee of the National Federation of Independent Business. As Arizona Daily Independent reported October 4, the organization backed six Arizona congressional candidates.

“Arizona small businesses are the foundation of our state’s economy,” NFIB Arizona State Director Chad Heinrich said at the time. The organization cited the candidates’ understanding of small-business concerns and support for economic growth.

The 8th District campaign also drew scrutiny over financial disclosures. Arizona Daily Independent reported in August that the Federal Election Commission sent Greene-Placentia’s campaign three compliance notices concerning a missing pre-primary report, changes in reported receipts, and discrepancies in its filings. The notices requested explanations or amended reports; they did not constitute findings that the campaign violated federal law.

Friday’s calls preserved Republican representation in the 5th and 8th districts after Democrats flipped Arizona’s 1st and 6th districts. The race between Republican Rep. Eli Crane and Democrat Jonathan Nez in the 2nd District remained unresolved in KJZZ’s Friday election coverage.
