Few docs, protesters at Brewer’s Medicaid photo op

A day after Arizona Governor Jan Brewer held a rally for her Medicaid expansion in front of the Capitol, the story behind the made-for-television stunt is becoming public. According to multiple Capitol and healthcare sources, only a handful of the people standing behind the Governor wearing bright white lab coats were physicians.

Healthcare technicians were gathered in a frantic last minute effort to fill the cameras’ frames.

While the Governor offered her reasons and no solid plan to the media, the Legislature grew more determined to fight the Governor’s federal fund grab on behalf of her close associates in the healthcare field who stand to make billions in the next few years under Obamacare.

Key county and legislative districts are lining up in opposition to the Governor’s plan and this week she lost two key supporters in the Legislature, and four more are wavering. The Governor could only count on four in the Senate and a handful in the Legislature when she started her expansion campaign.

Protesters dressed all in black were removed away from the Governor and by Capitol Police in order to give the media their photo op.

Those protesters said that the Governor had betrayed all Arizonans in favor of big medicine and big business.

The Governor’s campaign is being bankrolled by a coalition of special interests groups.
