Pima Animal Care Center honors 13 original colonies

Pima Animal Care Center is honoring “the courage of the 13 original colonies that led to Independence,” by dropping their adoption fees to $13 for the whole month for many of the pets waiting for new homes.

The special rate will apply to adult cats and to all dogs that are 40 pounds or more.

All other pets will be $5. All pets have their vaccinations, embedded microchips, and spay/neuter surgery.

For a two-hour window on the July 4 holiday itself, the adoption center will be open. The adoption fee for every single animal, no matter size or age, will be $13 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The Pima Animal Care Center is asking pet owners to keep in mind that the Fourth of July, with all of its whines and booms and hisses, can be a stressful time for animals.

They are advising pet owners to secure their pet in his or her familiar surroundings and the shelter, 4000 N. Silverbell Road, as well as with the Humane Society of Southern Arizona, 3450 N. Kelvin Blvd, if your pet gets lost.
