Barber among 39 Dems defying Obama with House bill

oabam-defianceThe Washington Times is reporting that 39 Democrats, including Congressman Ron Barber, sided with the Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives, voting to allow Americans to keep the health insurance plans they wanted after being cancelled from those plans due to the dictates of what has become known as Obamacare.

“Let’s face it, millions of people right now have a cancelled policy,” said Rep. Ron Barber before casting a vote in favor of the Keep Your Health Plan Act.

The Democrat representative from Arizona told reporters that some in Arizona are “beside themselves” and feel this way because “…by December 31 they don’t have health coverage, and they can’t get on the exchange to find out what’s available.”

Though Rep. Barber was not in the U.S. House in 2010 to vote on the Affordable Care Act, he is on record voting in August of 2013 to allow the IRS to remain as the enforcement arm of Obamacare.

Today’s bill passed in the House at 261 to 157. For whatever reason, four House Republicans thought it would be a good idea to vote against the bill.

The president has made it clear he will veto today’s bill; therefore, Democrats standing firm with the president’s signature legislation have characterized the House bill as ‘a waste of time.’ Some Democrats went so far as to claim the House bill is “an insidious attempt to rot the Affordable Care Act from the inside out.”

The irony is that millions across the country, especially those of whom have already lost their coverage, do not view the matter as ‘a waste of time.’ They view the disaster known as Obamacare a waste of time and already see the federal takeover as an insidious attempt to rob them of their choices, their insurance, doctors, care options and money; in other words, their freedom. The fact that we have come to a day in America when we have to go to congress to get permission to have the health insurance of our choice – or more like the president making the ultimate decision for us all – is almost surreal, but it’s here. Therefore, Obamacare is already proving to be rotten from the inside out.

So, how are you liking your hope and change?
