Pima County Sheriff’s Department reports that on July 16, 2014, at approximately 6:30 a.m., deputies responded to the 2900 block of West Via San Andrea reference the report of a stolen vehicle.
When deputies arrived, they learned the victim, a 54-year-old cab driver, picked up a fare which consisted of a male and two females from Casino Del Sol. The cab driver followed the directions he was given. When he turned onto West Via San Andrea, one of the females and the male produced weapons, told him to pull over, and demanded money. When the cab driver refused, he was pulled out of the taxi and his money was taken.
While the cab driver was being robbed, a vehicle drove past and began to slow down. The three suspects then got into the cab and drove away from the scene. The cab driver yelled to the driver of the passing car to call 9-1-1. The cab driver was not injured during the incident.
The suspects are described as:
Female #1 Native American or Hispanic
• 30-40 years of age
• 4’06”-5’00” tall, 130 lbs
• Black hair pulled back tight in a bun or similar style
• Tattoo on left side of neck and maybe one on arm
• Wearing a black t-shirt and black denim pants
• Identified by the name of “Monica” and claims to be mother of female #2 and wife of male
Female #2
• Native American or Hispanic
• Early to mid-20’s
• 4’06” – 5’00” tall, 140 lbs
• Brown eyes with painted on eyebrows
• Wearing a white t-shirt with an unknown print
Male
• Dark skinned Hispanic
• 35-45 years of age
• 5’00”-5’03” tall, 140 lbs
• Wearing black short sleeve button up shirt, long black pants, and a black ball cap
• Identified as being female #1’s husband by female #1
• Spoke with a deep voice
Sheriff’s Department detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects in this case. Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspects is urged to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
