Tucson’s Garden of Gethsemane closed due to vandals

Tucson’s Garden of Gethsemane, will remain closed until further notice after vandals smashed several statues. The vandalism was reported on March 30.

Several statues were damaged. According to the Tucson Parks and Recreation department, the artist will assess the damage and repairs will take place as soon as possible.

On Feb. 25, 2014 the City of Tucson and Knights of Columbus celebrated restoration of artwork at the Garden of Gethsemane. The garden, located at 602 W. Congress St., has been open to the public for more than 30 years.

A police report has been made. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call 88-CRIME.
