Tuba City man guilty of killing infant daughter

Ken Jermaine Fowler, 30, of Tuba City, Ariz., a member of the Navajo Nation, was found guilty by a federal jury of involuntary manslaughter and assault resulting in serious bodily injury of a minor.

The case was tried before U.S. District Judge G. Murray Snow from March 3 – 26, 2015.  The defendant was remanded into custody after trial.

The evidence at trial showed that Fowler assaulted the ten week old infant on the Navajo Nation Indian Reservation while she was alone in his care.  The assault caused massive brain injury that resulted in her death four days later.

A conviction for assault resulting in serious bodily injury of a minor carries a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison, a maximum penalty of life in prison, a $250,000.00 fine, or both.

Sentencing is set before Judge Snow on June 29, 2015.
