Fugitive surgeon nabbed on way to Mexico

On April 30, 2015 at 2:15 p.m., DPS Dispatch received a teletype from the Miami County, Indiana Sheriffs Office. They were looking for Gregory A. Konrath, an orthopedic surgeon, who had been convicted on charges related to the attempted murder of his ex-wife.

As part of a plea agreement, he was sentenced to one year in custody, eight months of house arrest and eight years probation.

He had completed his in-custody time and was on house arrest, when on April 28th, he cut off his monitoring bracelet and fled. He was apparently en route to Mexico. DPS Officers located him westbound on I-40 in the Winslow area at about 3:15 p.m. He was found driving a Chevy Captiva with fictitious plates. He was cooperative and was arrested without incident. He was booked into the Coconino County Jail on a no bond warrant out of Miami County.
