Rothschild Tells James Tucson Open To New Missions

Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild traveled to Washington, DC for three days of meetings with federal officials on transportation, trade, Davis-Monthan, and the Cherrybell post offices during the last week of July.

According to Rothschild, one of the most important meetings was with Secretary of the Air Force Deborah Lee James. “She made it very clear to me that Air Force decisions about future missions are going to be based in large part on community support,” Mayor Rothschild said.

According to Rothschild, when he provided her with examples of Tucson’s support for its Airmen, she said that was “music to her ears.” Rothschild also expressed the “community’s openness to hosting new missions,” according to a statement released by the mayor.
