Navajo Nation Launches “Operation Yellow Water” Site

On Wednesday, Navajo Nation President Russell Begaye and Vice-President Jonathan Nez announced the launch of website “Operation Yellow Water.”

The purpose of the website “Operation Yellow Water” is to “bring awareness to the environmental disaster that occurred as a result of the toxic sludge released into the Animas and San Juan rivers,” according to a statement released by the Nation.

“We want everyone in the Navajo Nation and throughout America to understand the impact this environmental disaster has had on our people, our water, our land, our culture, and our way of life,” said President Begaye.

Vice-President Nez continued, “We expect the EPA will stand by their word and step up to clean this mess. We look forward to working cooperatively with them. We and our litigation team will take every step necessary to verify that the appropriate actions are taken and to ensure a just and equitable response for the sake of our people.”

“Operation Yellow Water” has its own website at www.operationyellowwater.com. Also on twitter @OpYellowWater
