Phoenix Man Found Guilty In ISIL Garland Texas Attack

Today, a federal jury found Abdul Malik Abdul Kareem guilty in U.S. District Court in Phoenix. Abdul Kareem was arrested in June of 2015 for his role in the anti-Mohammed event in Garland, Texas.

Kareem was found guilty of conspiracy, interstate transportation of firearms, false statements, being a felon in possession of firearms and conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization.

Kareem,  a moving-company owner, provided firearms to the two men who carried out the attack and talked with them at his home about the planned attack. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) later on took responsibility for the attack. Kareem was indicted again in December 2015 for allegedly conspiring to set off bombs at the University of Phoenix Stadium during the 2014 Super Bowl, according to the Investigative project on Terrorism.

Kareem’s partners, Elton Simpson and Nadir Soofi, both of Phoenix, were killed in a shootout with Garland Police. A security guard was injured in the gunfight.
