Funeral Services Set For Slain Phoenix Police Officer Glasser

The Phoenix Police Department announced funeral services for Officer David Glasser will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Christ Church of the Valley, 7007 W. Happy Valley Rd. in Peoria.

Following the service, there will be a procession to Phoenix Memorial Park and Cemetery at 200 W. Beardsley Rd. in Phoenix.

Officer Glasser succumbed on May 20, to gunshot wounds sustained the previous day after responding to a burglary in progress at a home near the intersection of 51st Avenue and Baseline Road.

The homeowner had called 911 to report that his son, 19-year-old Israel Santos-Banos, was stealing items from the home. As officers arrived on the scene they encountered Santos-Banos sitting in a van in the driveway. Santos-Banos immediately opened fire on the officers, striking Officer Glasser. Other officers returned fire and killed Santos-Banos.

Officer Glasser had served with the Phoenix Police Department for 12 years and was assigned to the Neighborhood Enforcement Team. He is survived by his wife and two children.
