On May 27, 2016, Juan Pablo Vasquez-Campos, 38, of Aguas Calientes, Mexico, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Cyndy K. Jorgenson to 15 months’ imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release. Vasquez-Campos had previously pleaded guilty to assault on a federal officer and illegal re-entry.
Vasquez-Campos resisted arrest and scuffled with a Border Patrol agent in the desert terrain near Douglas, Ariz. During the struggle, Vasquez-Campos struck the agent with his elbow in an effort to avoid apprehension.
