Arizona Corporation Commission Goes From Corrupt to Comical

For a while now, the Arizona Corporation Commissioner has been the poster child of corrupt government enterprises. This week, after Commissioner Tom Forese announced the launch of the first step for Commissioners to adopt an ACC Code of Ethics, it became the laughingstock of the state.

Commissioner Forese opened a docket for Commissioners to gather input on what is and should be ethical. The Commission will also hold a formal workshop to get the public’s insight on what that code should look like.

“It is not uncommon for an elected body to have a code of ethics and it is long overdue that the commission should have one,” said Commissioner Forese.

“I fully support Commissioner Forese’s initiative and look forward to working with him on this important issue,” said Chairman Doug Little.

The Commission is already subject to state laws, but they have not gotten in the way. As a matter of fact, the Legislature altered laws this year in order to accomodate Andy Tobin’s appointment to the Commission.
