Two I-10 Road Rage Suspects Arrested In Phoenix

Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) detectives have arrested two men in connection with a road rage incident that occurred June 28th in the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 near 43rd Avenue. The investigation showed that two motorists were involved in a traffic altercation.

One of the vehicles involved in the incident was being driven by Juan C. Lopez, 22, of Phoenix. The other vehicle was being driven by Simon R. Ruiz, 28, also of Phoenix. No weapon was displayed but the two drivers pursued each other until a collision occurred at 51st Avenue and I-10 which eventually involved a total of five vehicles.

State detectives arrested Lopez and Ruiz, and both suspects will be booked on five counts of endangerment, five counts of simple assault and one count of aggressive driving.

“This was an extremely selfish act on the part of the suspects. Six out of seven people involved in the accident were hurt. Four of the five vehicles were total losses,” said investigating Trooper Brenda Sundquist.
