
National Border Patrol Council – Big Bend Local 2509 Commissioner R. Gil Kerlikowske released a statement: “Our thoughts and prayers go out to BPA Alvarez and his family. May he rest in peace. Information regarding funeral arrangements will be released as it becomes available. I am authorizing all CBP uniformed personnel to wear mourning bands until Agent Alvarez’s interment. On behalf of the entire CBP family, I extend my deepest sympathies to Border Patrol Agent Manuel Alvarez’s family, friends, and colleagues. Please join me in keeping them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
Agent Alvarez entered on duty on July 17, 2003 as a member of Border Patrol Academy Class 557. He is survived by his wife, Jeanine, and four children.
