Wilmot Road Motorcycle Collision Leaves 2 Dead

On February 22, 2017, shortly before 5:00 p.m., Tucson Police officers and members from the Tucson Fire Department responded to a report of a serious injury collision involving a motorcycle and a truck on S. Wilmot Rd. and E. Golf Links Rd. Upon arrival, they located an adult male motorcycle rider and his adult female passenger with obvious signs of trauma.
They were both immediately transported to Banner University Medical Center but sadly, they succumbed to injuries and were pronounced deceased at the hospital. The driver of the truck was not injured and remained on scene.
Detectives from the Tucson Police Department Traffic Investigations Unit responded to the scene to continue the investigation. The investigation is ongoing but the detectives were able to determine that the rider of a 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle was northbound on Wilmot Rd. through the intersection at E. Golf Links Rd. when he was struck by the driver of a 2012 Ford F-250 making an eastbound turn onto Golf Links Rd. from Wilmot Rd.
Neither the rider nor the passenger of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in this collision. As the detectives are continuing the investigation, no citation or arrest has been made at this time. If you have any information related to this incident you are asked to call 88-CRIME.
The rider of the motorcycle has been identified as 59-year-old Daniel W. Cox and the passenger of the motorcycle has been identified at 63-year-old Pearle M. Perl. Their next of kin have been notified.
