Phoenix residents are reminded that the deadline to request an early ballot for the runoff Phoenix City Council Election for the District 3 Councilmember is this Friday March 3. In-person early voting and vote by mail already is under way in the election, required by the City Charter because no candidate for this office received a majority of the votes in the November 2016 Special Election.
The candidates are Christopher M. DeRose and Debra Stark. Residents can vote early in-person on the 15th floor of Phoenix City Hall, 200 W. Washington St., through Friday, March 10. Those who have received and voted an early ballot should mail it in.
Voting centers for this election will be open March 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; March 13 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Election Day, March 14 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voted early ballots must be received by the City Clerk Department by 7 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, March 14, 2017. The ballots may be returned by mail, be delivered to the City Clerk Department at City Hall, 200 W. Washington St., or dropped off at any voting center location.
A list and map of the voting centers are available at phoenix.gov/elections and in the Sample Ballot Pamphlet mailed to each resident’s address in District 3 where there is a registered voter unless all voters in the household requested to obtain the Pamphlet electronically.
The runoff election is open to Phoenix residents who are registered voters and reside within Council District 3 at least 29 days prior to the March 14 election. City voters on the permanent early voting list will automatically receive an early ballot by mail unless they submitted a request to not receive a ballot by mail.
Voters can request an early ballot, get more information on the runoff election or check their early ballot status online, by contacting City of Phoenix Elections at 602-261-8683 (VOTE), using the 7-1-1 Relay System or visiting phoenix.gov/elections. Voter registration forms are available at most libraries and government facilities, including the 15th floor of Phoenix City Hall, 200 W. Washington St.
