TPD Identifies Victim In 32nd Street Homicide

Tucson Police detectives have continued their investigation into a early Sunday morning homicide in the 1100 block of E. 32nd St. They learned a large group had been gathered at a residence for a wedding reception. Around 1:30 a.m. several guests were leaving and as they began to walk to their vehicles, a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on 32nd St. almost stuck one of them.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 24 year-old Xavier Fragoso, stopped the vehicle and a verbal argument ensued. Mr. Fragoso drove away and stopped at  a residence down the street. The group from the wedding reception continued down the street toward Mr. Fragoso.

Mr. Fragoso and another large group met up with group from the wedding reception in the street. Mr. Fragoso was armed with a handgun. An altercation ensued, one male and Mr. Fragoso were shot. Mr. Fragoso was pronounced deceased on scene. Next of kin have been notified.

Detectives are continuing the investigation. They are asking anyone that was present at the incident that has not spoken with a detective or anyone that has information to please call 88-CRIME. You CAN remain anonymous.
