Sierra Vista Police Seek Public’s Aid To Locate Man Convicted Of Drug Charges

The Sierra Vista Police Department is searching for a local man who was found guilty of 12 drug-related charges by a jury in Cochise County Superior Court last week.

Carl Christopher Butler Sr., a 56-year-old Sierra Vista resident, was not present during the week-long jury trial, which concluded on Thursday, May 25. Butler was found guilty of transportation of a dangerous drug for sale (methamphetamine), possession of a dangerous drug for sale (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana, and nine counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

The trial stems from Butler’s arrest on Jan. 8, 2016, when a Sierra Vista Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle Butler was driving that had fictitious plates. A search of Butler’s person and the vehicle revealed illegal drugs and illegal drug paraphernalia.

The Sierra Vista Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance to locate Butler. A felony warrant has been issued for his arrest. If you see Butler, do not approach him. If you know Butler’s location or have any information regarding his whereabouts, call 911 or the SVPD non-emergency dispatch line at (520) 458-3311 as soon as possible.
