Nogales Woman Nabbed With Over $62K Marijuana At I-19 Checkpoint

Nogales Station Border Patrol agents assigned to the Interstate 19 immigration checkpoint seized more than 125 pounds of marijuana today, found in the trunk of a sedan driven by a 22-year-old Nogales, Arizona woman.

Early this morning, agents working the immigration checkpoint referred a maroon 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix for a secondary inspection after a Border Patrol canine alerted to an odor it was trained to detect. When agents opened the vehicle’s trunk, they discovered multiple bundles of marijuana worth an estimated $62,500.

Agents arrested the driver on federal drug smuggling charges. She will remain in federal custody pending further disposition.
