Former Cactus High School Teacher Sentenced To 5 Years

Former Cactus High School teacher, Allen Scott Johnson, age 54, was sentenced this week to five years in the Arizona Department of Corrections, followed by lifetime supervised probation with sex offender conditions for three counts of attempted sexual conduct with a minor.

Johnson pleaded guilty in May.

Johnson was arrested in 2016 at Paradise Valley High School where he was teaching at the time. In 2011, Johnson had three separate sexual encounters with his then 17-year-old student at the high school where he taught speech and debate. The student went to police about the relationship in 2016 and Johnson admitted to investigators he had a sexual relationship with the victim.

“This defendant used the trust afforded to him through his position as a school teacher to prey on an underage girl,” said County Attorney Bill Montgomery. “This sentence serves as a warning to those who target young victims of the harsh penalties this office will pursue when you are caught.”
