Suspect Makes One Attempted, One Successful Pima County Bank Robbery

On June 15, 2017, Pima County deputies responded to the Compass Bank located at 7645 North La Cholla Boulevard for a report of a robbery. Upon arrival, deputies learned an armed man had entered the bank demanding money. The suspect handed tellers a backpack and ordered them to fill it with money. He then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Robbery Assault detectives responded and took over the investigation. They believe the same suspect had entered the Hughes Federal Credit Union located at 7970 N. Thornydale Road just prior to the robbery at Compass Bank. Staff at Hughes Federal Credit Union asked the suspect to remove his hat and sunglasses, causing the suspect to flee without any money.

The suspect is described as:

  • Hispanic
  • Thin build and a beard
  • Last seen wearing a black hat, sunglasses, red bandana around his neck, black and white shirt, jeans, carrying a silver helmet, and wearing a black backpack

Robbery Assault detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call 9-1-1. You can also submit an anonymous tip, with the potential for a reward, by text, phone, or by going to 88-CRIME.org.
