2017 Coyotes Theater On Ice Team

Coyotes Theater on Ice, a Scottsdale, Arizona based theatrical figure skating team will sharpen their blades and head to Evansville, IN this week for the 10th Annual National Theater on Ice Competition, June 21-25th. Coyotes TOI will compete against 13 other teams from across the country at the Novice level.

Winning teams in certain categories have the opportunity to compete in the Nation’s Cup, an international theatrical skating competition.

Each team in the Evansville competition will perform a short and a long program, and is ranked based on the quality of execution of both programs. The short program is a choreographic exercise, where teams must display the elements of fantasy, retrograde and allegro. Coyotes TOI will perform “Griphons” from the Chronicles of Narnia for their short program. The long program is a free skate that can have any theme. The Coyotes team will make Marionette and Wind Up Dolls from the Victorian Era come alive in a Steampunk Adventure for their free skate.
Theater on Ice is one of the fastest growing segments of US Figure Skating. This year, 80 teams from across the country will come together in Evansville, IN to compete in 8 different levels, marking the 10th Anniversary of the competition.

Coyotes Theater on Ice practices at the Ice Den in Scottsdale, AZ under the direction of coaches Nancy Pluta and Miki Stevens.
