Second Suspect Arrested For Sierra Vista May Drive-by Shooting

Anthony Carvalho

The Sierra Vista Police Department arrested a second suspect, 18-year-old Sierra Vista resident Anthony Carvalho, on Friday, June 16, in connection with a drive-by shooting that occurred in the early morning of May 18.

The shooting resulted in multiple occupied residences being struck by projectiles but no one was injured. Evidence at the scene indicated there were two shooters. SVPD detectives conducted interviews of witnesses and pursued investigative leads following the arrest of 18-year-old Sierra Vista resident Tres Wick on the evening of May 18.

The investigation into a second shooter led to the arrest of Carvalho early Friday evening. Carvalho was charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder, three counts of drive-by shooting, four counts of discharging a firearm at a residential structure, eight counts of endangerment, and five counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Anthony Carvalho is being held in Cochise County Jail on a $500,000 dollar bond.

A judge found that probable cause existed in Wick’s case and ordered three of the 27 charges he faced be dropped and two charges be amended at a preliminary hearing held on June 6 and 7. Wick now faces one count of attempted first-degree* murder and 23 other charges stemming from the drive-by shooting. The case will be heard before a jury in Cochise County Superior Court. He remains held at Cochise County Jail on a $250,000 bond tied to the drive-by shooting and a $50,000 bond tied to a previous incident.

The prior incident is an armed confrontation that occurred on May 12, shortly after midnight, in the Fry Townsite. Officers working nearby heard a gunshot in the area of North 5th Street. Subsequently, an investigation revealed that Wick was involved in the confrontation and had fired a pistol. For that incident, Wick was charged with felonious disorderly conduct with a firearm, discharging a firearm inside the city, and endangerment.
