Marana Police Department Detectives have arrested Marcus Dickson, age 26, in connection with the shooting death of Martin Padilla, age 40, at the Arizona Pavilions Shopping Complex ion June 30.
Dickson was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center on one count of Manslaughter.
On June 30, 2017, at approximately 2:07 p.m., the Marana Police Department Communications Center received multiple reports of a shooting incident in the Arizona Pavilions Shopping Complex parking lot. Multiple Marana Police Department (MPD) officers and Northwest Fire District (NWFD) personnel responded to the scene. MPD officers located Mr. Padilla in the parking lot with obvious signs of gunshot trauma.
Despite life-saving efforts by bystanders and NWFD personnel, Mr. Padilla succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on-scene.
MPD officers learned that both men were engaged in a physical confrontation just prior to the shooting.
It is believed that numerous citizens possibly witnessed the events leading up to this shooting. Anyone with information related to this shooting is urged to call 911 or 88-Crime. Further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
