Lukeville Port Officers Make Opioid Seizure

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Arizona’s Port of Lukeville arrested a 20-year-old Tucson man for an outstanding warrant and for attempting to smuggle nearly 1,000 tablets of a powerful opioid drug.

Thursday morning, officers at the pedestrian crossing referred the man for further questioning as he attempted to enter the U.S. from Mexico. When the man was searched, officers found a small package taped around his waist of Oxycodone pills.

Additionally, he was wanted by Logan County Sherriff’s Department in Sterling, Colorado for contempt of court and trespassing.

The subject was arrested and turned over to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department after officers seized the drugs.
