Young Boy Drowns In Murky Tucson Pool

The Tucson Police Department is investigating the drowning of a 7-year-old boy that took place at a residence in Tucson yesterday afternoon.

On July 27, 2017, just after 3:00 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1300 block of South Bristol Avenue for a report of a missing child. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the mother who called 911. She advised officers that her 7-year-old son had been missing for approximately 30 minutes. Officers began searching the immediate area around the home and located an in-ground swimming pool in the backyard. The pool was dark green and murky and officers were unable to see to the bottom. Officers began skimming the bottom of the pool with a pole they found in the back yard. While skimming the pool, officers located the child underwater. The child was immediately pulled from the water and officers began CPR. Tucson Fire responded to the residence and took over medical treatment. The child was transported to a local hospital, but passed away shortly after arrival.

Detectives from the Tucson Police Child Physical Abuse Unit responded to continue the investigation. At this time, no charges have been issued in the case. Detectives are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
